Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Cut the bunny ear shape
- Fold a paper sandwich bag in half lengthwise.
- Draw a curved line starting from the open side, near the top of the bag. Bring the line down to the fold, going about halfway down the bag.
- Cut along the line, cutting through both layers of the bag.
- Unfold the bag to see bunny ears!
- Open the bag and push the side folds out, bringing the bottom of the bag to the back.Make sure the side you’re looking at is smooth (the back will have a center seam).
Step 3: Add the inner ears and face
- Use a fine point black marker to draw an almond shape inside each ear.
- Then draw a nose outline, mouth, and whiskers.
- Fill in the almond ear shapes and the nose with light pink colored pencil (or another Easter colour of your choice).
- Attach googly eyes above the nose with tacky glue or hot glue.
Step 4: Close the bag off
- Pick up the bag and open it back up so you can set it upright.
- Fill the bag with Easter grass and all kinds of goodies (read below for some fun ideas!).
- Scrunch the bag up just below the ears.
- Tie a piece of twine around the bag, making a bow. Adjust the ears so they look nice.
- Then tie a piece of ribbon into a bow around the bag, either just above or below the twine.
Step 5: Add a bunny tail
- Break off about 1/3 of a cotton ball. Fluff up the remaining 2/3 to look like a cotton tail.
- Add hot glue or tacky glue to the back of the bag. Press the tail into it, holding the cotton ball in place until it stays on its own.
- Your paper bag bunny is complete!
- Have fun making this simple homemade Easter basket in different colours, so each of your friends can have one!
Helpful Tips:
- Give your bunny a unique personality! Instead of googly eyes, try drawing expressive eyes with a marker—happy, sleepy, or even winking! Need inspiration? Check out our paper bunny gift box craft for fun eye designs!
- Make it match your Easter theme! Choose your favourite spring colours to decorate the bag, then coordinate the bunny’s ears, nose, and ribbon for a festive, personalized look. Pastels, brights, or neutrals — it’s up to you!
- Give your bunny some whiskers! Draw on whiskers like we did for some of our bunny bags, or attach pipe cleaners or thin strips of black paper. This will make your paper bunny extra cute and playful!
