How to make a mattress for an IKEA doll’s bed
FINALLY I have a working sewing machine again! It has been 6 weeks since my Janome 9000 (permanently) broke down. But I am now back up and running with a Bernina Artista 200 (thanks mom!). Fantastic sewing machine - but a bit of a learning curve to get it up and running since it's another crazy computerized one. This mattress project has been on my to-do list for weeks! And it was a simple project to tackle on a sewing machine that I'm not familiar with - so it felt great to finally get … [Read more...]
Make band-aids out of felt
Felt band-aids? Why the heck not!? Okay, so the idea of toy band-aids may seem a little weird, but when I gave these to Leah she LOVED them and was super excited to put them on all her stuffed animals. There is something about kids and band-aids that just can't be explained. So I'm just going to run with it and give you a tutorial for how to make band-aids out of felt. See that scratch (also known as a manufacturing defect, or poor quality control) on Baby Alive's arm in the photo … [Read more...]
Make a mini felt crown barrette
I love doing little things to try to make events like birthdays even more special. Which is why I made Leah a mini felt crown barrette for her 3rd birthday the other day that she could wear to feel like a birthday princess. I came across several mini felt crown head bands and hair bands on Pinterest, but she would take those off in about 30 seconds. At least a barrette will stay put all day long (and it even lasted through her nap!). I had to throw it together quickly … [Read more...]

It's difficult trying to come up with 3rd birthday gift ideas, especially when your child already has everything they need! Tomorrow is Leah's 3rd birthday (ahhh!) but I didn't want to go over the top with presents. So I decided to buy one thing, a Baby Alive doll, and then make everything else to go along with it: I made cloth diapers for the Baby Alive doll (tutorial here) which also fit her other dolls: And just because I think she'll really enjoy these, I threw together some … [Read more...]
How to make a reversible blanket for an IKEA doll bed
As promised in this how to make bedlinens for an IKEA Duktig doll's bed series, here is a quick tutorial for how to make a reversible blanket. How to make a reversible blanket for an IKEA doll bed Cut out two pieces of fabric, both 20" x 20". Fabric choice isn't overly important, one of mine was cotton and one of them was flannel: Cut out a piece of 20" x 20" quilt batting. How to make a reversible pillowcase for a doll
What do you do when you can't make up your mind what colour something should be? You make it reversible! I posted a similar tutorial for how to make a doll's pillow and pillow case last week, but that one was just so small for the doll's bed that I had to do another. This time it's a much … [Read more...]

How do you make a tulle bedskirt more poofy? You make it with more tulle! Baby Alive is going to sleep in the lap of luxury in this little doll's bed when I finish all the pillows and accessories: Leah's birthday is at the end of the month, so I'm going to be busy making all the bed linens for the IKEA Duktig doll's bed this week. I'm sure there … [Read more...]
First Tulle Bedskirt for an IKEA Doll’s Bed
Is it bad that I'm getting addicted to making tulle bedskirts? It's like I'm a glutton for punishment because tulle is so frustrating to work with, but I just can't help it because they are so pretty! I posted the tutorial for how I made the tulle bedskirt for Leah's bed a little while back, and now I've made a miniature tulle bedskirt for her IKEA Duktig doll's bed. Except, for my first tulle bedskirt for an IKEA doll's bed, I wasn't 100% happy. I'm also working on a second tulle … [Read more...]
How to make a doll pillow and pillow case
You know the IKEA Duktig doll's bed that I painted last week? I've had big plans to spruce it up for the Baby Alive doll that we plan to give Leah for her birthday at the end of the month (the one that I made the cloth doll diapers for last week). I started today by making a pillow and pillow case for the doll's bed. Now, admittedly, this pillow is a little on the small side for the size of the doll's bed. I was running out of fabric so I made it as big as I could with what I had. Maybe … [Read more...]
