Helpful Tips:
- Add glitter after the oil: If you pour glitter into the bottle before the baby oil, it will clump together. For bottles with other add-ins (like spiders, bones, or gems), you can place those in first and then pour in the liquid.
- Choose the right food colouring: Regular food colouring works well in baby oil to create eerie suspended drops. In water-based bottles, regular food colouring will mix right in. If you want the same floating effect, use oil-based food colouring instead.

What items are in these Halloween sensory bottles?
We made a few different versions to show how fun and versatile these Halloween themed bottles can be! Each one is made with baby oil and turns into its own spooky little world when you shake it up.
- Glitter Sensory Bottle: orange acrylic gems, acrylic bones, chunky glitter, Halloween confetti, and star shaped glitter
- Spider Sensory Bottle: white pom poms, plastic spiders, and spider shaped confetti
- Eyeball Sensory Bottle: plastic eyeballs and red food colouring diluted in a bit of water (about 8 drops worth)

What type of liquid is best for making Halloween sensory bottles?
We love using baby oil in our sensory bottles. It’s inexpensive, easy to find, and it makes the add-ins float and sink slowly, creating a really cool effect.
You can also make water-based sensory bottles by thickening the water with things like glycerin, clear dish soap, clear hair gel, or light corn syrup.

What other add-ins can I use to make a Halloween sensory bottle?
We love glitter in almost any type of sensory bottle, but there are so many other fun ideas! Try adding some of the following, either by themselves or in combination with other items:
- Plastic centipedes or other insects
- Plastic skeletons, or other mini Halloween toys
- Googly eyes
- Pony beads in fun Halloween colours
- Pom poms
- Mini erasers in Halloween shapes
- Glow-in-the-dark stars
- Faux mini pumpkins

Halloween sensory bottles are such a fun way to bring spooky magic into playtime, while also offering a calming, hands-on activity for kids. With endless options for liquids and add-ins, each bottle becomes a one-of-a-kind creation. They’re totally mesmerizing and are perfect for Halloween parties, classroom fun, or just a creative afternoon at home.
