Step 3: Fill with baby oil and add-ins
- Fill the bottle 3/4 full with baby oil.
- Pour some gold tube confetti into the bottle (about 1 Tablespoon worth, at least).
- Then add fall leaf confetti (about 12 pieces, or more if they’re small).
- Finally, add 3 to 4 fabric leaves.
Step 4: Top up the bottle and close the lid
- Fill the rest of the bottle to the top with baby oil.
- Add the cap and close tightly.
- Your fall sensory bottle is complete! Shake the bottle to mix the add-ins.It’s so relaxing and mesmerizing to watch the fall leaves float around the bottle.

Helpful Tips:
- Secure the lid: Once you’re happy with your fall sensory bottle, you can glue the lid shut with hot glue or super glue. This will prevent little hands from opening it!
- Choose your add-ins carefully: Glitter is always a good choice, but larger add-ins (like the pumpkins and acorns) float or sink quite quickly. You can experiment with different objects and strain out the ones you don’t like.

What items are in these fall sensory bottles?
We made 3 different styles of fall sensory bottles. All of them are made with baby oil as the liquid, with different add-ins. Here are the ingredients for our autumn sensory bottles:
- Fall Leaves Sensory Bottle: Gold bingsu beads (tube confetti), fall leaves confetti, and fabric leaves.
- Acorn Sensory Bottle: Gold extra chunky glitter, fine copper glitter, and faux acorns.
- Pumpkin Sensory Bottle: fall coloured sequins, mini faux pumpkins, and mini faux pinecones.

What’s the best liquid for making DIY sensory bottles?
We love using baby oil (scented mineral oil) for our sensory bottles. It’s inexpensive, easy to find at the dollar store, and makes the items inside drift slowly for a relaxing effect.
Another great option is a mixture of water and glycerin, like we used in some of our weather sensory bottles. Fill the bottle mostly with water, then mix in about 1 tablespoon of glycerin — this creates a beautifully slow-moving effect, especially with heavier objects like beads.
You can also experiment with other clear liquids such as clear dish soap, clear glue, clear hair gel, or white corn syrup. Play around with the ratios until you get just the right thickness, so your add-ins sink slowly and gracefully.

What bottles did you use to make your autumn sensory bottles?
We like using plastic VOSS water bottles (500ml size) to make our DIY sensory bottles, and they worked perfectly for these fall themed ones as well! The sleek caps give them the same polished look as store-bought sensory bottles, and the wide openings make it easy to add in items of all shapes and sizes.
What else can I add into a fall sensory bottle?
There are so many fun items you can use to make your very own sensory bottle! Here are some ideas that will work well to create an autumn experience in a bottle:
- pom poms in warm colours
- acrylic table scatter
- cinnamon sticks or star anise
- wood beads
- mini scarecrows or harvest figurines
- small plastic apples or apple charms
- laminated cut-outs of pumpkins or leaves
- metallic foil shapes
- amber-coloured glass beads
- buttons in fall colours or fun fall shapes

And that’s all it takes to make a beautiful fall sensory bottle that’s as calming as it is colourful! With just a few simple materials, you can create a swirl of autumn magic to enjoy anytime — no matter the weather outside.
Display it on a shelf, keep it handy for quiet moments, or share it as a thoughtful seasonal gift. However you use it, this little bottle of fall is sure to bring a smile!
