How to Make Grinch Slime
Materials:
Slime Ingredients:
Grinch Jar (Optional):
Equipment:
Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
- Add 1-1/2 teaspoons of baking soda. Stir to combine.
- Then add a few drops of lime green food colouring (we added too much green when we first made this slime, so we do recommend adding only a few drops).
- Pour in light green glitter to cover the top of the slime. We used fine and chunky types of glitter.
- Then add red heart foil confetti and stir it in.(We suggest adding it by hand or spoon, since a lot more fell in than we were planning. Oops!)
Step 3: Activate and knead the slime
- Once the glitter and confetti are mixed in, pour in 2-1/4 teaspoons contact lens solution.
- Stir until the slime thickens and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
- Then pick up the slime and knead it with your hands. Squish and pull it until it’s no longer sticky. You can add a few more drops of contact solution, if needed.
Step 4: Make a Grinch jar (optional)
- Use an oil paint marker to draw a Grinch face on the side of a glass jar.You can trace the face or even just glue a picture of the Grinch onto the jar as well.
- Your Grinch slime is complete!Store your Grinch glitter slime in the sealed jar overnight to help remove bubbles. It will clear up and get darker as it sits. Or, just start playing right away!
Helpful Tips:
- Go easy on the food colouring: If you want your slime to stay a bright lime-green shade, don’t add too much food colouring. The colour will naturally darken as the slime sits overnight.
- Add activator slowly: Start with 2-1/4 teaspoons of contact lens solution and mix really well before adding more. If the slime is still sticky after kneading, add just a few extra drops at a time until it firms up.

What glue is best for making Grinch slime?
Clear glue is definitely the best choice for this project. It helps the green colour, glitter, and heart confetti show up beautifully.
White glue works too, but the look won’t be as vibrant. You can also make fluffy slime, which would be super cute for a Grinch theme!

How can I draw an accurate Grinch face on the jar?
Print a Grinch face to use as a tracing template. Search online for an image file (a JPG works great), resize it in Word so it fits your jar, and tape it inside the glass. Then trace the design on the outside using an oil-based paint marker for the best coverage. A regular Sharpie will work too!
(Or, if you’d rather skip the tracing, you can print the Grinch face in colour and glue or tape it directly onto the jar.)

Why does Grinch slime have hearts in it?
The hearts are a fun nod to the moment when the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes as he discovers the true spirit of Christmas: love, kindness, and togetherness.
What kind of hearts can I add into my Grinch glitter slime?
We used red foil heart confetti we found online. You can also use:
- Smaller heart glitter
- Heart-shaped vase filler pieces
Or, simply decorate the jar with heart stickers! All of these will add a cute, festive touch to your Grinch slime and jar.

Have fun playing with this green and glittery Grinch-inspired slime. It’s such a simple recipe, and the resulting slime is super stretchy and soft. The confetti gives it a fun texture, while also adding a pop of colour.
Learn how to make Grinch slime and then pack it into a decorated jar that shows off those sparkly hearts. Keep it for yourself, or gift it to someone who needs a little Christmas cheer. This slime is colourful, a hands-on sensory activity, and is sure to become a holiday favourite!
