How to Make Cotton Candy Slime
See the craft in action:
Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Make borax activator
- Add 1 teaspoon of borax into 1 cup of hot water.
- Stir until the borax dissolves. Set aside and wait for the liquid to become room temperature.
Step 3: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/4 cup of white glue into a bowl.
- Add 1/2 cup of water.
- Use a whisk to carefully mix the glue and water together.
- Colour the slime with 3 to 5 drops of food colouring. Stir to combine.
- To make a scented slime, add 5 to 10 drops of cotton candy fragrance oil.
- Now add 1 Tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of instant snow.
- Stir the instant snow into the mixture. It should become thick and clumpy.
Step 4: Activate the slime and wait overnight
- Add 2 Tablespoons of borax activator into the bowl. “Stir” as best you can, pressing the activator into the slime.
- Pick up the slime and knead it with your hands, stretching it out. It should feel a bit rippy and overactivated at this point, so don’t worry.
- Now place the slime in an airtight container and wait overnight. This is necessary for the snow to absorb more into the slime. The longer you wait the more soft and stretchy the slime will be.
- Your cotton candy slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Give the instant snow time to expand: Store the finished slime in an airtight container overnight (or even for a couple of days) before playing with it. The slime will become softer and fluffier as the instant snow continues to absorb moisture.
- Turn it into a cotton candy experience: Make the slime, enjoy plenty of stretching and squishing, and then wash your hands before having some real cotton candy as a treat!

What is instant snow?
Instant snow is a super-absorbent powder that expands and becomes light and fluffy when water is added. It’s often mixed into slime to create cloud slime, giving it a soft, airy texture that stretches and slowly falls or “drizzles” through your hands.
We’ve used both SnoWonder and Let It Snow instant snow, and both brands will work well for this recipe.

What can I use to scent cotton candy slime?
Use a skin-safe cotton candy fragrance oil that’s suitable for soap, bath products, or slime. We purchased ours online, but you may also be able to find cotton candy fragrance oil at a local soap-making or candle-making supply store.
Our bottle was marketed using “essential oil” wording, but cotton candy scent is typically a blended fragrance rather than a true essential oil. Always follow the product’s directions and add only a small amount at first — the scent can become surprisingly strong!

How can I colour my cotton candy slime?
Pastel pink, blue, and purple are all perfect colours for cotton candy slime. We recommend using food colouring for this recipe. You only need a few drops to create a soft pastel shade.
You can add a small dab of acrylic paint if don’t have the right colours of food colouring, but paint tends to alter slime’s texture slightly.

This cotton candy slime is just as fun to make as it is to play with! Its soft cloud slime texture, sweet candy scent, and fluffy pastel colours make it a sensory activity that kids will want to squish, stretch, and drizzle over and over again. Whether you’re making it for a rainy day, a birthday party, or just because, this easy slime recipe is sure to be a hit. Grab your ingredients, mix up a batch, and enjoy your own sweet-smelling cotton candy cloud slime!
