Scented slime is such a fun way to add an extra sensory twist to classic homemade slime! This bubble gum slime is candy pink, super stretchy, and smells just like a sweet little treat, making it extra fun to squish, poke, and pull.
We matched the colour to the bubble gum scent for a playful candy-inspired slime, but you can choose any scent and colour combo you like. Try fruity scents, vanilla, cotton candy, or even seasonal favourites to make your own custom scented slime recipe that looks as good as it smells.

Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of white glue into a bowl.
- Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda.
- To colour the slime add acrylic paint or food colouring.
Step 3: Add the scent!
- To add scent to the slime we’re using a fragrance oil.
- Add 5 to 10 drops of the fragrance oil into the mixture. The more drops, the stronger the scent. Stir it in.
Step 4: Activate the slime
- To activate the slime, add 2 teaspoons of contact lens solution.
- Stir until you can’t stir anymore. The mixture will thicken and come away from the bowl.
- Then pick up the slime and stretch/knead it with your hands. It will be a bit sticky at first, but as you work with it the stickiness should go away.Add a few more drops of contact solution at a time, only if needed.
- Your scented slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Only add 2 teaspoons of contact lens solution to start. Acrylic paint makes a thicker slime, and the fragrance oil can thicken the slime a bit too. Start with 2 teaspoons, then only add more contact solution, a few drops at a time, if necessary.
- Choose a slime colour that complements the scent. Pink is perfect for bubble gum slime, red works well for strawberry slime, and light blue would be fun for cotton candy or blue raspberry!

What do I need to make scented slime?
You’ll need glue, baking soda, and contact lens solution to make the base slime.
To tint the slime, use food colouring, acrylic paint, or mica powder. Then to make the slime scented, we recommend using fragrance oil or essential oil.

How else can I add scent to slime?
You can add scent to slime in lots of fun ways, depending on the type of slime you’re making. Scented shaving cream works well for fluffy slime, scented foam soap adds lightness and softness, and scented lotion can make slime feel softer and glossier.
You can also try cooking extracts, like vanilla or peppermint extract, or dry spices, like cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. Just keep in mind that some ingredients may change the slime’s texture, colour, or shelf life, so add a small amount at first and test as you go.
Another option is to make a recipe that already has scent built in, like Jello slime or gummy bear slime.

What are some good scents for making slime?
Fruit scents are always a great choice for scented slime, especially strawberry, watermelon, orange, raspberry, or peach. Candy scents are also really fun, like bubble gum, cotton candy, blue raspberry, or marshmallow.
For a cozy slime idea, try bakery-inspired scents like vanilla, chocolate cupcake, cookie dough, cinnamon roll, or birthday cake.

Scented slime is such a fun way to make homemade slime feel a little more special. With a few drops of fragrance oil and a colour that matches your scent, you can turn a simple slime recipe into a squishy, stretchy sensory activity that smells amazing.
Choose bubble gum pink like we did, or try your own favourite scent and colour combination. Either way, this scented slime is easy to customize and so satisfying to play with!
