How to Make Valentine’s Day Slime
Materials:
Equipment:
Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
- Then add 1-1/2 teaspoons of baking soda. Stir to combine.
- Colour the slime with food colouring. We used a couple drops of fuschia and about 4 drops of pink. Again, stir to combine.
- Now add confetti and/or shaped glitter to the glue mixture. We used pink heart confetti and smaller gold heart glitter.
Step 3: Activate the slime
- Add 2-1/4 teaspoons of contact lens solution to activate the slime.
- Stir the solution in until you can’t stir anymore and the slime comes away from the bowl.
- Pick up the slime and mix it with your hands. It will be sticky at first, but should come off your hands after kneading for a minute. Add another few drops of contact solution, if needed.
Step 4: Wait overnight
- Optional: Place the slime in an airtight container overnight. This will allow the bubbles to rise, clearing up the colour of the slime.
- Your Valentine’s Day slime is complete!
- Now enjoy making the slime in different colours or with other types of heart add-ins.
Helpful Tips:
- Add activator slowly: It’s better to start with a small amount and add more a few drops at a time. Be sure to really work the slime with your hands before adding more activator. Slime can feel very sticky at first, and it’s easy to over-activate if you rush.
- Let the slime rest overnight (optional): If you leave your slime in a container overnight, the bubbles will settle and the slime will look clearer and smoother. The colour may deepen a bit too. If you don’t care about bubbles or colour, you can absolutely start playing right away!

What’s the best glue for making Valentine’s Day slime?
Clear glue is the best choice for Valentine’s slime because it shows off glitter, confetti, and charms much better than white glue. It also helps the colours look brighter and more vibrant.
That said, white glue works too — your slime will still turn out, but it will look more opaque and the add-ins won’t pop as much.

What type of add-ins are best for Valentine’s Day slime?
Valentine’s slime is all about hearts and sparkle! Heart confetti, heart glitter, and heart charms are all great add-ins, and you can mix a few different types together for extra texture and shine.
For example, our red slime is coloured with red food colouring and has little clay heart sprinkles mixed in, while the clear slime uses white iridescent glitter plus tiny red heart glitter for a lighter, shimmery look.

How can I play with this Valentine’s Day slime?
This slime is fun as is, but you can “dress it up” to make it even more exciting. You can store your heart slime in cute apothecary jars so it looks like a love potion, or add a few resin or acrylic heart charms for extra Valentine’s flair. It’s also fun to mix slime colours together. Try swirling clear slime with one of the colours to create a striped, candy-like effect.

This Valentine’s Day slime is a fun mix of colour, sparkle, and hands-on play that kids will love. The heart confetti and glitter make it feel extra special, while the stretchy, glossy texture keeps little hands busy.
So set out a few add-ins, let the kids experiment, and enjoy a simple Valentine’s Day project that’s all about love, creativity, and fun!
