Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
- Add 1-1/2 teaspoons of baking soda. Stir well.
- Then add a generous amount of gold acrylic paint to the bowl.(You’ll probably use at least 1 teaspoon, if not a bit more.) Stir well to combine.
Step 3: Activate the slime
- To activate the slime add 2 teaspoons of contact lens solution.
- Stir the slime mixture until you can’t anymore and it pulls away from the bowl.
- Pick up the slime and knead it and stretch it with your hands. It may be a bit sticky at first, but it should come together and stop sticking to your hands quickly. If it doesn’t, add a couple more drops of contact solution.
- Optional: Place the slime in an airtight container overnight to remove the bubbles.
- Your gold slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Start with less activator than usual: Begin with just 2 teaspoons of contact solution activator. Since the paint makes this gold slime a little thicker and less sticky, you usually won’t need as much activator as you would for other slime recipes. Mix the slime really well with your hands first, then add more activator only if needed, a few drops at a time.

What’s the best glue for making gold slime?
For this gold slime, and other slime recipes where you want a really bright colour, clear glue works best. It gives you a transparent base, so the gold colour shows up brighter and the shimmer really stands out.
If you only have white glue, the recipe will still work, but the gold may look a little softer and less luminous.

What else can I use to make gold slime?
Gold mica powder is another great way to make gold slime. It gives the slime a beautiful pearly, metallic sheen and can create an even more luxe “liquid gold” look.
You can also mix in a little gold glitter if you want to add extra sparkle and shimmer.

Why does the gold slime have to sit overnight?
We recommend letting clear glue slime sit for at least a few hours, or preferably overnight, before playing with it. While it isn’t completely necessary, this resting time lets the air bubbles rise and disappear, which helps the slime look clearer and less cloudy. That makes the gold colour look richer, shinier, and more vibrant.

This gold slime is such a fun recipe to make when you want something extra shiny, smooth, and satisfying to play with. With its rich metallic colour and glossy stretch, it really does look like liquid gold as you swirl, pull, and fold it in your hands.
Using clear glue helps the golden colour shine through, and a little patience while the slime clears makes the finished result look even more beautiful. Whether you’re making it for a sensory activity, a themed slime collection, or just because you love shimmering slime, this gold slime is an easy recipe that feels wonderfully luxe and fun to play with.
