Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Trace the egg shapes
- Print a couple of our free Easter egg templates. Find the link in the materials list above, or keep reading for more details.
- Tape the template on a window (or other light source). Place a piece of watercolor paper or cardstock on top of the template and use a pencil to trace the Easter egg pattern.
- Trace another egg design or two (if you’d like) and set the paper on a baking sheet or other protected surface.
Step 3: Add glue and glitter
- Trace around the outside of the egg with white glue. You can also add glue to a couple lines or design elements.Wherever you add glue now will be the first colour on the egg.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of glitter onto the glue.
- Pick up the watercolor paper and place another sheet of regular paper below it (you can use the template page, if it’s still handy). Tilt the watercolor paper to remove the excess glitter. Then funnel the loose glitter back into its container.
- Trace another section of the egg with glue.
- Add another colour of glitter to the glue and remove the excess, just like before.
- Repeat, adding glue and another colour of glitter to the remaining sections.
- Repeat the same process with the other Easter egg.
- Your Easter egg glitter art is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Make clean up easy: Use damp paper towel to clean the glitter off your tray and/or working surface.
- Simplify the glitter process: You can also cover the whole egg with glue at once. Then add different colours of glitter across the egg, just like we did for our glitter spider web craft.

Where can I get templates to make Easter egg glitter art?
We have 12 different designs of Easter egg outlines for you to choose from, with 38 printable pages available!
We used the medium sized Easter eggs to make our glitter art.

What type of glitter is best for making glitter Easter eggs?
We used regular (medium sized) glitter to make our Easter egg glitter art. This type of glitter catches the light really nicely, making the Easter eggs truly sparkle.
Extra fine glitter also works well for this craft. It actually covers the glue even easier than chunkier glitter does, but it has a sandier texture. So it just depends on which look you’re going for!

What’s the best paper for making Easter egg glitter art?
To make this glittery Easter craft you need to use a thicker paper that can absorb some moisture. We used watercolor paper, but cardstock or mixed media paper will also work well.
White paper looks good as a neutral backdrop to the colourful Easter eggs, but you can also increase the spring vibes and use pastel cardstock.
Regular printer paper and construction paper are generally too thin to handle the weight and moisture from the glue. Even cardstock will warp a bit as it dries, which is why watercolor paper is our preferred choice for this craft.

Glittery Easter egg art is a simple yet dazzling craft that brings extra joy to the holiday season! Whether you display your sparkly eggs as DIY Easter decorations, turn them into greeting cards, or simply have fun in a festive craft session, this project is sure to add a touch of creativity to your celebrations.
Try experimenting with different glitter colours, patterns, or even mixing in sequins or metallic foil for extra shine. However you design them, these glittery eggs are a fun and easy way to celebrate Easter with a little extra sparkle!
