Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Draw a spider web with glue
- Start by adding a vertical line down the center of a square piece of paper. You can also use rectangular paper, but we found the webs formed better on a square.
- Next, add a horizontal line with glue, perpendicular to the first.
- Then add an angled line, going from one top corner to the opposite bottom.Repeat, making another angled line from the opposite corners.
- Connect 2 of the lines with a slightly curved line of glue, about 3/4 inch out from the center.Repeat all the way around.
- Make more curved lines about 1/2 inch away from the first ones. Then repeat, adding another row or 2 until the paper is full.
Step 3: Add glitter to the glue
- Begin by sprinkling one colour of glitter onto a small section of the glue.Make sure all the glue in that area is covered.
- Repeat, adding the same colour in different areas across the page.
- Choose a second colour of glitter and shake it onto different places on the paper.
- Repeat, using several more colours until the glue is covered completely. You can also go back and use a previous colour if you want it to be more prominently featured.
Step 4: Remove the excess glitter
- Pick up the paper and flip it upside-down. Gently shake and/or tap it to get rid of the excess glitter.
- Your glitter spider web is complete!
Step 5: Make another style of spider web
- To make a different style of spider web, use the glue to form angled lines coming down from one of the corners.
- Then connect the lines with curved lines, just like you did on the other web. Continue, working your way down the page.
- Add glitter to the glue. You can use all one colour of glitter, or do an ombre look. Here are started with blue and then used different shades of purple and pink as we worked our way down the page on an angle.Again, flip the paper to remove the excess glitter.
- Your glitter spider web craft is complete!

What type of paper is best for making a glitter spider web?
We used black cardstock to make our glitter spiderwebs. It gives perfect Halloween vibes, and it shows off the colourful glitter really well. But you can also use white paper if that’s all you have.
Whatever colour you choose, we recommend using a thicker paper, like cardstock or watercolor paper. If you use a lot of glue, even cardstock can warp a little bit as it dries. Construction paper will also work, but it will definitely warp and look wavy from all the wet glue.
What type of glitter is best for making a glitter spider web?
We used medium sized glitter from the dollar store to make our glitter spider web craft. This type of glitter catches the light really nicely, looking just like a web covered in morning dew.
Extra fine glitter also works well. It actually covers the glue even easier than the medium glitter, but it has a more sandy texture. So it just depends on which type of look you prefer!
Chunky or shaped glitter are also options. They’re fun to work with, but we suspect that they wouldn’t cover the glue quite as evenly.
Can I draw the spider web first before adding glue?
Yes, you can use pencil to draw the spiderweb. Younger kids, who don’t know how to draw the web, may find it easier to cover the pencil marks.
But we found it easiest to freehand the web with glue. It can be hard to control exactly where the glue lands, so you can get a cleaner web shape when you don’t have to worry about covering precise lines.
And if you don’t want to draw a web, you can find a printable spider web template on our salt painted Halloween craft post.
