What size crochet Christmas ornaments does this pattern make?
These crochet ornaments are about 8-1/2 inches around (circumference) and 3 inches tall, not including the hanger.
How do I make a bobble stitch?
Here are the steps to make a bobble stitch:
- Yarn over and insert your hook into the stitch.
- Yarn over and pull the loop through the stitch (you should have 3 loops on your hook).
- Repeat steps 1–2 two more times (you’ll have 7 loops on your hook).
- Yarn over and pull yarn through all 7 loops.
- Chain 1 to finish the stitch.
- Proceed to the next stitch.
Note: The ch-1 that completes the bobble stitch doesn’t count as a separate stitch — it’s considered part of the bobble itself. However, during your decrease rounds, you’ll work into the ch-1 space as a stitch.

Can I crochet this pattern around a plastic ornament?
Yes, you can easily crochet this pattern around a plastic ornament instead of adding stuffing. Simply insert the ornament after round 10 (or wherever you think makes sense), and then continue with the pattern.
Keep in mind that you may have to adjust the number of stitches to fit your specific ornament size.

What yarn is best for making these crochet Christmas ornaments?
We used acrylic worsted weight (4) yarn in 2 different colours to make each of our ornaments. You can also use DK (3) or sport weight (2) yarn to make smaller ornaments, or chunky (5) yarn to make a larger ornament.
