This recipe for creamy garlic parmesan chicken tastes AMAZING and it’s so simple to prepare! The chicken is tender and juicy and the creamy, cheesy topping melts in your mouth. Such a quick and easy dinner recipe that uses simple ingredients that the whole family will LOVE!
Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken
Do you ever make dinner and think to yourself, oh-my-goodness-this-is-the-best-chicken-I’ve-ever-made?!?!?! It’s rare for me. Especially because I’m not a huge fan of chicken breasts – they always end up slightly dry and not overly flavourful. But oh my word, this creamy garlic parmesan chicken is melt in your mouth delicious. I’ve already made it twice in the last week – the chicken is juicy and the creamy parmesan topping tastes soooooo good!
You may be thinking, “Mayonnaise!? On my chicken!?” because let’s face it, it’s not something we normally associate with chicken. But the answer is: YES! You won’t regret it. The mayo and parm mixture tastes amaaaaazing.
Back when I was a teenager, my mom would mix together mayonnaise and parmesan cheese, put it on top of our broccoli, asparagus, or whatever other vegetables we were having, and then we’d broil it for a few minutes until it was golden, creamy and delicious. It tasted sooooo good as a sauce for our vegetables. So I was thinking, “Hey, can we try that on chicken!?” And yes, my friend – Yes you can!

Can I double this recipe?
Yes! You can easily double the recipe (or half it) if you need to. As written, if everyone eats 1 chicken breast, it will make enough for 4 people.
How long should I bake this mayo parmesan chicken?
This will depend on the size of your chicken breasts. Ours were medium to large sized boneless, skinless chicken breasts and I baked them for about 45 minutes at 375F.
I tend to bake my chicken breasts longer than a lot of other recipes say to, but I’m also super paranoid about having raw chicken so I make sure it’s completely cooked through (and then I cook it another 5 minutes… just to be safe…).
The creamy garlic parmesan sauce seals the moisture into the chicken, so even if you bake them for a little longer than other websites say to, they should still be moist and tender.
What can you serve with garlic parmesan chicken?
It tastes great served with mashed potatoes, and any of your favourite green vegetables. We like it with roasted asparagus, and a simple garden salad.
Creamy Garlic Chicken Recipe
The sauce has four simple ingredients – mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, shredded mozzarella and garlic.
Even just mixing together the ingredients for the topping makes the kitchen smell heavenly. (Mmmm… garlic and Parmesan…) And when you bake it, the sauce keeps the chicken juicy and tender. Each bite is packed with melt in your mouth flavour (no tasteless chicken breasts here!).
I can’t believe I’m talking about chicken this way, but I’m seriously swooning over this recipe!
Creamy Garlic Parmesan Chicken | Million Dollar Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese grated
- 3 garlic cloves minced
- seasoning salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F. Spray your baking dish with cooking spray. Gather all the ingredients.
- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, mozzarella and garlic. Mix well.
- Place the chicken breasts into the baking dish and sprinkle seasoning salt and pepper on top (or however you like to season your chicken). Keep in mind that the Parmesan cheese adds a salty flavour to things, so don't add too much salt.
- Add a big dollop of the cheese mixture on top of each chicken breast. Then spread the mixture evenly until the chicken is completely covered.
- Spread the mayo mixture evenly until the chicken is completely covered.
- Bake at 375F for 40-45 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbling and golden brown.

What do you serve with it?
We like to have the chicken with either rice or potatoes on the side. Roasted potatoes are easy because they can bake at the same time as the chicken. Then we do either a salad or a veggie, like green beans or asparagus.
I am so excited to make this tonight! I have been looking high and low for a recipe that seems like chicken our caterer served at our wedding 19 years ago. I just KNOW this is it. I am wondering if you have ever made the mashed potato side dish first, and then spread it in the bottom of the pyrex to bake again under the chicken?
Wow, I hope the recipe lives up the memories, April! 🙂
I’ve haven’t ever baked mashed potatoes like that… but I assume the juices from the chicken would keep them from drying out, so it might be worth a try?
Looks delicious! Making it tonight and adding zucchini and onions!
Enjoy, Christi! Sounds delicious. 🙂
Could you sub the mayo for yogurt? I’m allergic to mayo.
Thanks,
Hi Roberta! Yes, I think you could substitute with plain Greek yogurt, no problem.
I made this and didn’t realize I didn’t have enough mayo so I used sour cream. It came out so delicious. I will definitely be making this again. I rarely find a recipe that I enjoy this much.
Yum, that sounds like a good substitution! So glad you enjoyed it, Jenn. 🙂
This recipe is so delicious, thank you so much! Nothing is better than a super easy and delicious meal. Took me a few minutes to prep. Came out moist and so flavorful. I didn’t even add the garlic and it was fantastic.
So glad you enjoyed it, Claire! 🙂
