Print our free honeycomb Easter egg template.(We recommend printing the template on cardstock or copying the pattern onto cardboard for a sturdy template that’s easy to trace).
Trace the egg template onto coloured cardstock and cut 20 pieces.
Step 3: Fold and glue each egg
Fold each of the eggs in half vertically.
Open one of the folded eggs and add a line of glue across the center, horizontally.
Fold in half again, pressing down to make it stick. Repeat for the rest of the pieces. (You can place them under a paperweight or heavy book to keep them pressed together while you work.)
Step 4: Glue the eggs together
Add 2 horizontal lines of glue to one side of the folded shape: 1 towards the top and 1 towards the bottom.
Set another one of the eggs on top of the egg with glue, lining up the edges as you connect them.
Repeat this process until all the folded eggs are glued together.
Make sure the eggs are well lined up, then add a binder clip to the straight edge to keep the papers together as the glue dries. (It will take several hours for the glue to dry, but we prefer to leave it overnight.)
Step 5: Connect the 2 sides
Once the glue is completely dry, remove the binder clip and slowly open the papers to reveal a honeycomb shape.
Add 2 lines of glue to one of the flat sides (the former top or bottom of the bundle).
Bring the outside edges together, creating a rounded egg shape. Secure the papers in place with small binder clips (or paper clips) to keep the egg together as the glue dries once again.
Step 6: Remove the binder clips
Remove the binder clips and gently encourage the pockets to open, if need be.
