How Make Ladybug Painted Rocks

With a little paint and a few simple steps, you can create charming ladybug painted rocks. This beginner-friendly craft is perfect for all ages!

Step 1: Find what you need

  • Gather your supplies and materials.

Step 2: Paint the rock

  • Paint the top and sides of your rock red (or another fun colour). Allow the paint to dry.

  • Add a second coat of paint and allow it to dry. Add a third coat, if necessary.

  • Paint the top third of the rock with black paint. Allow to dry.

Step 3: Add black details

  • Use a fine point marker or paint pen to draw a line down the center of the rock, making the wings.

  • Then draw curved antennas with the marker.

  • Use a fine tip paintbrush to make the black dots on the ladybug's wings.
    If you don't feel confident with your circle painting skills, you can use a paint marker, or even dip the end of the paintbrush handle into the paint and dot it on.

Step 4: Add eyes

  • Attach googly eyes to the black section of the ladybug. Our googly eyes were adhesive, but you can also use hot glue or tacky glue to attach them.

  • Your ladybug painted rock is complete!

  • Optional: Paint irregular shaped rocks green to become leaves, and draw veins with a paint pen or marker.

  • Then make a whole cheerful scene with your colourful ladybugs and leaf rocks!
