Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
- Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. Stir well to combine.
- Gather yellow or iridescent glitter for your slime. Here we have 2 shades of yellow.
- Add a generous amount of glitter into the bowl. (Measure with your heart!) Again, stir to combine.
- Then pour clay lemon slices into the mixture.
Step 3: Activate the slime
- To activate the slime add 2 teaspoons of contact solution into the bowl.
- Stir well, until the slime comes away the bowl and you can’t stir anymore. If it doesn’t feel thick enough you can add a few drops more of activator, but less is more at this point.
- Pick up the slime and stretch it, kneading it with your hands. As you work it, it should stop being sticky.If it’s still sticking to your hands you can add more contact solution, a few drops at a time.
- Optional: Place the slime in an airtight container overnight. This lets the bubbles rise to the surface and clears up the slime, but if you want to play with it now you definitely can.
- Your lemonade slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Slime with add-ins often needs less activator than regular slime, so start with a smaller amount and only add more as needed. It’s much easier to add more activator to sticky slime than it is to fix slime that’s become too stiff or overactivated.
- Clear glue slime can look cloudy at first, especially after kneading. Let the finished slime sit in a sealed container overnight, or for a day or two, and the bubbles will rise to the top. This helps the slime look clearer and more like real lemonade.
Should I add colour to my lemonade slime?
We liked the look of using just a bit of colour from the glitter. It added a soft yellow tint without making the slime too bright, so it stayed translucent like real lemonade.
We tried yellow food colouring at first, but even with only a couple of drops, the slime became very yellow and didn’t look quite right. If you want more of a lemonade potion look, you can add a small amount of mica powder for a pearlescent tint.
Where can I get clay lemon slices?
We bought our clay lemon slices online. You can buy lemon slices on their own, or get a full fruit sprinkle collection with different fruit shapes.
Sometimes craft stores or the dollar store sell small clay fruit slices, but it can be hit or miss. You can also make tiny lemons from polymer clay and add them into the slime. Amazon also has lots of different styles of lemon charms and fruit add-ins.
What’s the best glue for making lemonade slime?
We recommend using clear glue for this lemonade slime recipe. Clear glue lets you see the glitter and clay lemon slices, and it gives the slime that translucent lemonade look.
White glue will also work if that’s what you have, but it’ll change the appearance and make the slime more opaque. The texture may also feel slightly different.
