What size crochet cup cozy does this pattern make?
The exact size of the cup cozy will vary, based on tension and yarn type. It should work up to between 3-1/2 and 4 inches tall, and 9-1/2 to 10 inches around.
This pattern is meant to fit a large or extra-large takeout cup, but it can easily be adapted to fit the drink size of your choice. Start with a shorter or longer amount of chains (keeping the number odd) to scale the cup cozy down or up.

What yarn is best for making this easy cozy crochet pattern?
We recommend using a durable, medium-weight yarn to make your crochet cozy. We used acrylic yarn, which works fine, and makes for an inexpensive and soft feeling drink cover.
However, you can also use an acrylic-cotton blend or regular cotton yarn. Cotton is heat-resistant, easy to clean, and holds its shape well, making it a great choice for this project.

How can I wash my crochet cup cozy?
Check your yarn label for specific washing instructions, as there are differences between how you care for cotton, acrylic, and other blends. We always recommend hand washing crochet items with a mild dish soap or detergent.
To dry, gently squeeze or press out the excess water (rather than wringing it, as it can distort the stitches). Then re-shape and dry flat on a drying rack or towel, out of direct sunlight.

With just a bit of yarn and time, you can create something that adds charm to your daily coffee routine while keeping your hands comfy!
This crochet cup cozy is such a fun and relaxing project, and you can make one of these cute accessories in about an hour. Whether you’re making cup cozies for yourself, or as a thoughtful gift, they’re a great and customizable way to combine creativity with functionality.
