Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Fold the envelope
- Set your heart doily down with the back facing up and the point at the top (facing away from you).
- Fold the right and left edges in so they meet in the middle.
- Fold the top of the heart (the part close to you) up, creating the flat bottom of the envelope.
- Open the last fold and add glue stick to the inside of the envelope.
- Fold the bottom back up, smoothing down the fold, and hold it in place for a minute. This will help the doily stick to itself.
- Then fold down the point of the heart. This completes your envelope!
Step 3: Insert a valentine and seal the envelope
- Print our free Valentine’s Day cards! (Find the link in the materials list above.)You can use regular paper or print them on coloured cardstock like we did.
- Cut out the valentine of your choice and sign the “To” and “From” areas on the back. Then slide the valentine inside the envelope.
- Close the envelope again and seal it with a foam heart sticker.
- Your heart doily envelope is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- A regular heart sticker works just as well to close the envelope. You can also use a bit of glue stick to seal the point of the envelope if you don’t have stickers.
- Heart doilies come in multiple colours, but we definitely suggest using a pink or red heart for a fun Valentine’s Day look.
- The flat back part of the envelope gives you a nice place to write the recipient’s name.
- You can also colour the valentines with colored pencils or markers.

What else can I add into my heart doily envelope?
Make your own Valentine’s Day card and place it in the envelope. Or add small treats like conversation hearts (maybe even clay conversation hearts!), Hershey’s Kisses, or heart shaped chocolates or candies.
What type of glue works best for making a heart doily envelope?
You want to use a glue that holds the envelope together without being too sticky — after all, you don’t want the glue seeping through the envelope and sticking it together in the wrong places!
We found a glue stick worked well for this craft, but glue tape (used sparingly) would also be a good choice.
What size doily is best for making a heart doily envelope?
We used an 8 inch doily to make our doily heart envelopes. This makes an envelope that’s about 4 inches across and 2-3/4 inches tall.
This fits our printable valentines perfectly, but you can definitely use a smaller doily and create your own valentine, or use a larger doily and add other fun treats to fill the envelope.
Share the love by placing a Valentine’s Day card in an adorable heart doily envelope. These doily envelopes only take a minute to make and we love their romantic and vintage vibes!
