These painted cactus rocks are a blast to make! Just pick a few smooth stones, grab your favourite green paints, and start creating a mini desert garden that will stay fresh forever.
Paint the rock your green base colour. Paint each rock a different shade of green. Allow the paint to dry.(You can also start with a white base coat, which should allow fewer coats.)
Add a second coat of paint and, again, allow to dry. Add a third coat, if necessary.
Paint the backs of the rocks as well. They'll also need at least a second coat.
Step 3: Add details to the cactus
Once the paint is completely dry, use a paint pen in a different shade of green to cover both sides of the rock with cactus spike details.
Use a different green, or even a yellow, to add different details to your other rock. "V"s, asterisks, and angled lines all work to make the rocks look like cacti.
Step 4: Place your cactus in a pot
Fill a clay pot with white sand (cover the drainage hole with a piece of tape first).
Then nestle the rocks into the sand, creating your cactus garden.
Your cactus painted rocks are complete!
