Make alcohol ink crinkle bowls using this vibrant DIY technique with plastic wrap! It's an easy, colourful craft that adds bold texture to ceramic bowls. They're perfect for gifting or decorating!
Prepare a protected surface to make your bowl. We covered a baking sheet with parchment paper. You'll also want to wear gloves when working with alcohol ink, as it stains very easily.
Place a piece of plastic wrap on the tray, large enough to cover the outside of your bowl.
Add drops of alcohol ink across the plastic wrap. Start with one colour, placing it randomly.
Next add a complementary colour of alcohol ink that will blend well with the first colour. Place these drops between the first ones.
Step 3: Wrap the bowl
Set a ceramic bowl onto the plastic wrap.
Fold the plastic wrap up around the bowl. Don't smooth the plastic -- you want it to be crinkly and have bumps.
Now flip the bowl upside-down and leave to dry for 24 hours.
Step 4: Remove the plastic wrap and seal
Once your bowl is dry, carefully peel off the plastic wrap. You'll see the super cool pattern that the ink and crinkles of the plastic wrap have left.
Bring the bowl outside (or to a well ventilated area) and set on a protected surface, like newspaper. Spray with an acrylic spray sealer.Allow to dry at least 1 hour before touching, and 24 hours for a full cure.
Add rubbing alcohol to a paper towel and wipe the top and inside of the rim to remove the excess alcohol ink.
