Print our free felt poppy template (find the link in the materials list above!) and cut out the petal.
Place the petal pattern on a piece of red felt. Trace around it with chalk or a gel pen. Then cut out the petal.Repeat 4 more times so you have 5 petals in total.
Step 3: Join the petals together
With a threaded needle, sew a running stitch along the flat edge of one petal.
Pull the petal down to the end of the thread.
Add the remaining petals to the thread in the same way.
Gather the petals together on the thread, pushing the bottoms toward each other.
Pull the thread tight and tie the ends together in a double knot. This will gather the petals together into a flower shape.Cut off the excess thread near the knot.
Arrange each petal so that one side is over the previous petal and the other side is under the next petal.
Step 4: Make the center of the flower
Take a black pipe cleaner and roll it around itself into a flat circle.
Add hot glue to the pipe cleaner spiral and press it to the center of your petals, covering the center gap.
Step 5: Make the poppy's stem
Fold over the top 1/2 inch of a green pipe cleaner.
Add hot glue to the fold and press the glued pipe cleaner onto the back center of the poppy.
