How to Make St. Patrick’s Day Slime
Materials:
Equipment:
Instructions:
Step 1: Find what you need
- Gather your supplies and materials.
Step 2: Mix the first ingredients
- Pour 1/2 cup of clear glue into a bowl.
- Add 3 drops of green food colouring and stir to combine.
- Then add 1-1/2 teaspoons of baking soda. Stir again.
- Add a generous amount of green glitter to the bowl.
- Then add shamrock confetti.
Step 3: Activate the slime
- Pour 2-1/4 teaspoons of contact lens solution into the bowl.
- Stir to combine, until you can’t stir anymore and the slime comes away from the bowl.
- Pick up the slime and knead and stretch it. It might be sticky at first, but as you work it the stickiness should go away. Add a few more drops of contact solution, if needed.
- Optional: Place the slime in an airtight container overnight. This will allow the air bubbles to rise, making the slime more clear. It will also darken in colour a bit.
- Your St. Patrick’s Day slime is complete!
Helpful Tips:
- Add activator slowly: Start with 2-1/4 teaspoons of contact solution, then add a few drops more at a time, only if needed.
- Knead before adjusting: If the slime feels sticky at first, keep working it with your hands for a minute or two. The texture often improves without adding extra activator.

What glue is best for making St. Patrick’s Day slime?
Clear glue works best for this St. Patrick’s Day slime recipe, because it allows the glitter and confetti to show through beautifully. Using clear glue gives the slime a bright, jewel-like look that really highlights the green colour and festive add-ins.
White glue will still work, but the slime will look more opaque and the details won’t stand out as much. If you only have white glue we suggest you make a green fluffy slime!

What add-ins can I use in my St. Patrick’s Day slime?
This slime is very customizable and works well with a variety of fun add-ins, including:
- Green glitter
- Large gold glitter (like the gold at the end of the rainbow!)
- Clay or acrylic charms (for extra texture or visual interest)

What activator works best for St. Patrick’s Day slime?
Contact solution is our favourite choice for a clear glue slime. It’s inexpensive, easy to use, and makes a nice stretchy, goopy slime recipe.
You can also use a borax solution by mixing 1 teaspoon of borax into 1 cup of hot water. Then add a tiny bit at a time until the slime has formed. Some people like using borax because you don’t need to use baking soda, and the activator lasts a long time.

St. Patrick’s Day slime is such a fun way to celebrate the holiday while giving kids a hands-on sensory activity they’ll love. With its bright green colour, sparkly shamrock add-ins, and stretchy texture, this slime is always a hit for playtime, parties, or classroom fun.
Kids can mix, stretch, and explore at their own pace while enjoying a festive, creative experience. Whether you make it for a holiday activity or just for fun, this lucky slime is sure to bring plenty of smiles and a little extra magic to your day!
