Make your presents shine under the tree with these super cute clay gift tags! Use air dry clay to make personalized keepsakes for family and friends. They're SO EASY to make!
Place a piece of plastic wrap on a wooden cutting board. Then set a small ball of clay (between 3 to 4 inches in diameter) on top. The plastic wrap should be big enough to fit the clay once it's rolled out.
Then cover the clay with another piece of plastic wrap. The plastic will stop the clay from sticking to the cutting board and the rolling pin.
Roll the clay until it's about 1/4 inch thick.
Step 3: Cut out the gift tag shapes
Remove the top layer of plastic wrap and push a cookie cutter into the clay.
You can also place a paper template onto the clay and cut around it with a craft knife.
Remove the excess clay from around the shapes and push the end of a drinking straw into each shape to make a hole to hang the ornament.
Step 4: Add names and smooth out the clay
Use letter stamps to add names to the gift tags. You can also add fun holiday phrases like "Merry Christmas", "Let it Snow", or "Ho Ho Ho".
Dip your fingertip in water and smooth out the edges of the tags.
Step 5: Allow to dry
Allow to dry overnight before handling.Flip half way through drying for best results. It can take up to 72 hours for the clay to dry completely.
Step 6: Add ribbon and a bell
Cut an 8 to 10 inch piece of ribbon and add a jingle bell onto it. Tie a knot in the ends of the ribbon.
Place the knotted end of the ribbon down through the hole in the gift tag. Then bring the ribbon ends back through itself, near the bell.Pull the end of the ribbon back towards the top of the tag to secure it in place.(You can also slide the ribbon through the tag before tying the knot.)
