Make your own DIY cat kicker toy with just fabric, stuffing, and a sprinkle of catnip! This easy sewing project is a fun way to treat your cat to some playful enrichment.
Fold the fabric in half lengthwise, with the pattern inside. Line up the edges nicely and secure the fold with 2 to 3 pins.
Sew along the long edge, removing the pins as you go.
Then turn the fabric and sew along one side edge.
Remove from the sewing machine and turn the tube right side out.(You can cut the bottom corner off the sewn edge first to make a cleaner corner, if you'd like. Make sure you cut outside the stitches.)
Sew a line near the closed end of the tube. This is so both sides will match at the end.
Step 3: Fill the cat toy
Add a spoonful of catnip into the fabric pouch.
Let the catnip fall to the bottom and then add a handful of fiber fill stuffing.
Repeat this process (catnip, stuffing, catnip, etc) until the kicker toy is nicely full.
Step 4: Finish off the tube
Fold the edges of the open side down and in. Add a pin to keep the folds secure.
Sew this edge closed.
Your DIY cat toy is complete!
Have fun making more in all kinds of cute patterned fabrics.
Then give the toys to your favourite cats. They'll love playing with them!
