Gather your supplies and materials. All you really need is fabric and a gift to wrap, but you can also embellish the present with flowers and a gift tag.
Step 2: Cut and place your fabric wrap
Cut a square piece of fabric about 3 to 5 times the size of your gift box. (Our box is 5 x 5 x 2 inches and we used a 22 x 22 inch square of fabric).Read below this tutorial for more details about what fabric to use and the exact size needed.
Place the fabric down with a point towards you, like a diamond.
Step 3: Wrap the present
Set the gift box roughly in the center of the wrap, so that the sides of the box face the corners of the fabric.
Fold the bottom point up and over the top of the box.
Tuck the point of fabric under the box.
Fold the top point down to meet the box, creating a straight line across the top.
Fold the new top line down on top of the box.
Fold the right side of the fabric in, like you would with regular wrapping paper, and pinch it together, holding it towards the box.
Hold the right section of fabric, bringing the "tail" up towards the top of the box. Then form the same folds on the left side.
Tie the tails together on top of the box. Then secure them with a double knot.
Step 4: Add embellishments to your gift (OPTIONAL)
Cut artificial flowers and greenery and slide them under the knot to decorate the gift.
Make a gift tag from paper (cut one out or use a punch) and address it to your recipient. Then use a one hole punch on one side of the tag.
String the tag onto twine or ribbon and tie the tag around the fabric knot. Cut off the excess string or tie it into a bow.
