Step 2: Cut the macrame cord and form the pipe cleaner circle
Cut 20 to 25 pieces of 3mm macrame cord to be 5 inches long.
Cut 1 more piece to be 12 inches long.
Take a 12 inch white or neutral coloured pipe cleaner and bend it into a circle with about a 2 inch diameter.
Wrap the pipe cleaner around itself so it stays in the circle shape.
Step 3: Add cord with a lark's head knot
Fold a 5 inch cord in half and place the loop under the pipe cleaner circle. This is the start of the lark's head knot, a simple and beginner friendly macrame knot.
Bring the cord ends up through the loop.
Pull the cord ends tight, bringing them to the outside of the pipe cleaner circle.Make sure the cord pieces on the pipe cleaner are close together.
Knot a second cord in the same way, directly next to the first. Again, pull the cord snug.
Continue adding cords to the pipe cleaner with a lark's head knot, working your way around the circle.
Step 4: Add an ornament hanger
When you have room for only one more cord, add the 12 inch cord to the pipe cleaner circle with a lark's head knot.
Tie the 12 inch cord into a knot close to the end, creating an ornament hanger.
Step 5: Finish off the macrame wreath
Keep the hanger out of the way and comb out the 5 inch cords.
Cut the combed cords to a uniform length. Our frayed cords are about 1 inch long.Again, hold the hanger out of the way while you cut the rest of the cords.
Comb out the wreath again and make any final adjustments.
