Place the butter into a microwave safe mug, and microwave 15-20 seconds, or until softened but not melted. Using a fork, mix together the butter, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin puree.
Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and pumpkin pie spice, and mix to combine. Stir in the chocolate chips. Smooth the batter into an even layer in the mug, then sprinkle with a few extra chocolate chips.
Heat on high heat for 60 seconds, or until puffed up and set on top. Serve warm with whipped cream and chocolate sauce, if desired.
