These mason jar luminaries are really pretty, shimmering with faux winter snow! Use these candle holders to decorate the mantle or create a holiday centerpiece.
Spread a thin layer of mod podge over the outside of the jar with a foam brush. (Don't cover the neck of the jar.)
Working over a baking tray or newsprint, sprinkle the Epsom salt mixture evenly over of the mod podge with a spoon, turning the jar as you go.
Once you reach the bottom of the bowl you can pour the remainder of the salt and glitter onto the jar.
Tap the bottom of the jar as you rotate it to remove any extra salt and glitter. Set the jar upright and allow it to dry for at least 1 hour.
Step 3: Seal the jar (optional)
In a well ventilated area (preferably outside), spray a thin layer of sealer over of the faux snow to help keep it in place.Allow it to dry for at least 20 minutes before handling.
Step 4: Finish decorating the jar
Add a dab of hot glue to Christmas greenery to connect two sprigs. We used fresh cedar sprigs, but you can also use fake greenery from a garland.
Glue on some holiday berries to the bundle.
Add hot glue to the back of the greenery.
Attach the greenery to the neck of the jar.
Loop twine around the neck of the jar and tie it in a bow over the greenery and berries.
Your snowy mason jar is complete!
TIPS:
1. Instead of working in sections, paint the whole jar with glue/Mod Podge and then immediately cover the entire jar with the salt mixture. If you try to work in sections it's a lot messier and the salt layer will not be seamless.
2. We used 3 different sizes of mason jars: 8 ounce, 16 ounce, and 32 ounce jars (1 cup, 2 cup, and 4 cup jars).
