Print out a sheet of pumpkin templates and cut around one of the pumpkins in a square shape.
Attach painter's tape to the back of the pumpkin, keeping the tape inside the lines of the shape.
Place the template on the front of your card, centering the pumpkin.
Open up the card and place the front on a cork trivet or corkboard. Use a large needle to punch holes through the card around the outline of the template.Make sure to place a hole at every point or corner of the design, and make your holes a little over 1/4 inch apart.
Remove the template from the front of the card.
Step 2: Form pumpkin stem
Cut a piece of green thread around 12 inches long and thread it on a needle.
Open up the card and insert the needle from the inside.
Pull the thread almost all the way through and then tape the end with scotch tape.
Bring the needle back through another hole on the stem. Come up from the bottom to the next hole and go back to continue making a stem outline.
Once the stem is outlined, go across the front in a criss cross pattern. You can choose the pattern you like - it doesn't matter what holes you come from or go to.
Once you've made a pattern on the stem that you're happy with, finish on the inside of the card and tape the thread into place, cutting off any extra.
Step 3: Form pumpkin
Cut a piece of orange thread around 30 inches long and thread it onto the needle.Bring the needle in from the inside of the card (just like with the green thread) and pull it through, taping the end into place.
Use your thread to make an outline for the pumpkin.
At this point, or whenever you run out of thread, tape the end of the thread into place.
Start a new thread, coming from the inside of the card again.
Pull the thread almost all the way through and secure the end with more tape.
Now you can start making a pattern across the pumpkin.
As you're making the design, you can hold the thread across the picture with your fingers to see how it will look before putting your needle through the hole.Continue bringing the thread across the front of the card until you're happy with the design.
Tape and cut your thread one last time.
Step 4: Add insert to card
Cut a piece of printer paper to 6-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches and fold it in half.If you're using a different size of card, cut the paper to be 1/2 inch smaller than your card dimensions, so that there's 1/4 inch of space on each side.
Use double sided tape or glue tape to attach the insert inside the card.
Write your Halloween message inside of the card.
Your Halloween string art card is complete!

Notes
Try not to cut your orange thread too long. You'll need to start new thread at least once, but the thread will knot too easily if you work with a longer piece of thread.Download and print our pumpkin templates for free!
