Our house is about a 5 minute walk to the kids' school. Which is truly a blessing most days! In our crazy dash to get everyone's shoes, jackets, and backpacks on and out the door, it's an absolute life saver that we don't have a long walk or drive in the morning. ("Wait, did I remember to put your lunch bags in your backpacks? Let me just unzip and check. NO NO sweetie... don't stop walking, we're going to be late... I can walk and zip at the same time...") Once I get back home after dropping … [Read more...]
Spring Snack Chex Mix
Other people stress about what to wear each day. Or about picking fabric samples for curtains (well... that would actually stress me out too...). But apparently I'm the type of person who stresses about what type of candy to put into my Chex mix. I went to the bulk store and bought way too many different choices. And then I filled little bowls, sat on the floor with my group of bowls and kept refilling and rearranging them to figure out which combinations would look and taste the best together. … [Read more...]
Mason Jar Easter Gifts
Have you noticed lately how the stores are just FILLED with inexpensive Easter candy? Like seriously. How much candy does a kid need at Easter? Do you think we go overboard these days? I find it hard not to go overboard when there are so many choices - especially with all the really inexpensive and cute things from the dollar store. So this is me toning things back. *breathe* I'm already having trouble leaving it at just this. There's this guilty feeling in the back of my mind, like somehow … [Read more...]
Lolly Pop Bunnies
I want to be that mom. You know the one. She's the one who sends really fancy treats to school for her kids' birthdays, and manages to always put together fancy gift bags for everyone in the class for EVERY holiday. Then my kids come home and say, "Next time, can we bake fancy cookies and decorate them like this for everyone in the class?". And I grit my teeth and mumble some kind of excuse, "Oh, I don't know honey, those look really hard to make!" I know. It sounds ridiculous given that I'm … [Read more...]
Homemade Easter Cream Eggs
Hi there! It's Kelly from Typically Simple and I'm back with an oh-so-yummy treat that is perfect for Easter! I love all of the treats that come out just for Easter, like Reese's peanut butter eggs, jelly beans, and Cadbury Creme Eggs. Any sort of treats with chocolate and peanut butter are my absolute favorite, and I recently made a batch of homemade peanut butter eggs that were quite delicious. Since I already had out most of the ingredients that are needed to make homemade Easter cream eggs, … [Read more...]
Easter Peeps Fruit Kabobs
This morning, my 7 year old popped out of bed, and said "Guess what Mommy? It's the first day of spring!" My first thought, as the wonderful and supportive mother that I am, was that she was clearly wrong. We had to confirm it with Siri (Oh Siri, always there to settle an argument when we need you...), and sure enough Siri confirmed that my daughter was right. Woo hoo! It's the first day of spring! I don't know why that makes me so happy. Well, happy might not be the right word. Relieved? … [Read more...]
Tie Dye Easter Eggs Using Paper Towels
These tie dye Easter eggs were so easy to make! I have to admit, I was a little nervous about the idea of tie dying something. It sounds like it should be scary. Or complicated. Or at the very least messy. But you know what? It wasn't any of those things! As long as you wear rubber gloves... if you choose not wear rubber gloves and you get food colouring all over your hands, don't say I didn't warn you. I don't have very many Easter posts on the blog. How crazy is that!? Last year I had to go … [Read more...]
Cadbury Mini Egg Cookies
Okay, if there's one recipe you need to try this spring, it's these Cadbury Mini Egg Cookies. Wow. Just wow. Mini Eggs have always been one of my absolute favourite Easter chocolates. Right up there with Easter Cream Eggs... Mmmm... There's something about the chocolate that they use... it's totally and completely addictive! And when you put them inside of a cookie, they're melt in your mouth delicious, especially when they are warm and melty, right out of the oven. Yum! My two year old is … [Read more...]

Hey everyone! It's Megan from Homemade Ginger and I'm back to share another craft that's perfect for spring. These little bunnies are super soft and so fun to make! I discovered pom pom making this year when I was in the process of wrapping Christmas gifts. I was addicted to making them in all sizes and colors of yarn to top my gifts. When I saw these pom pom bunnies on Pinterest, I was ecstatic to realize that my pom pom making did not have to stop with the holidays! For some reason, … [Read more...]
