Do you ever have those moments where you think, "Look at this awesome /[craft]/[idea] I came up with!? I'm so SMART!" Except when you go to search it on Pinterest, (I can't be the only one who searches Pinterest to see if my ideas have been done before??) it turns out someone already beat you to it? I had that problem when I was making these cinnamon roll pumpkin pops. I searched Pinterest, (why do I do this to myself?) and I had this momentary feeling of soul crushing disappointment at how … [Read more...]

These jack-o-lantern cheese quesadillas are such a fun idea for Halloween! They're super easy (and I mean reeeeeally easy) to make, and you can make them SO FUN! You can even get the kids to help "carve" faces into their own tortillas. Kids love eating things they get to help with! My kids seem to dislike anything that has... well... flavour. Yes. That about sums it up. I'm waiting for them to grow out of this picky eating stage. Me? I love quesadillas. Refried beans? Chicken? Green onions? … [Read more...]
Halloween treats are the best. Seriously. When else do you get to make cookies that have eyeballs in them!? These Reese's Pieces peanut butter eyeball cookies are so much fun. And even more importantly - they taste sooooooo good! The cookies are thick and golden on the outside with a nice soft texture on the inside. Soft, chewy and delicious! Everyone gets excited about Christmas baking, but I think Halloween baking should be taken more seriously. Actually, maybe "seriously" isn't the right … [Read more...]
Edible candy eyes are pretty much the best baking invention ever, aren't they? I think I've fallen in love with them. And this was the first time ever that my craft store actually had the small size, the medium size and the large sizes all in stock. AND they were on sale. Bless my lucky stars, that never happens to me! These Rice Krispie Treat Monsters let me take my candy eye obsession to a whole new level. You get to go a little crazy with them, which I personally think is AWESOME. These … [Read more...]

Check out our video for how to make no-bake monster cookie energy bites: When my kids get home from school … [Read more...]

My kids are picky. Like, really picky. For the last 6 years I have been trying to decode the craziness of their little appetites to figure out what on earth they'll actually eat. Luckily (and not surprisingly) pizza has always gone over really well. So these mini dish dish pizzas were a huge hit! And I'm not going to lie, they tasted amaaaazing!! I wasn't sure how they were going to turn out, but they were delicious! All warm and gooey and cheesy. Mmmm... When my 6 year old was a baby she … [Read more...]
Who doesn't love ladybugs, right!? These preztel ladybugs and bumblees are adorable! And they are so easy to make! My 4 year old and 6 year old have been eating them up like crazy! Mostly my 4 year old, really. She's our little candy eater, and let's just say she has been SUPER excited that these have been sitting out in the open on the counter for a day or two, ready for her to grab one or two whenever she likes. We don't normally let the kids have access to treats all day and night, so she's … [Read more...]
Do you have crazy picky eaters at home? I swear, if I let them, my kids would eat nothing but licorice and milk. We're making some progress with the whole "If you're hungry enough for candy, you're hungry enough to eat your dinner" strategy, but it's always a struggle. It doesn't matter if I make super simple kid food, or regular old grown up food, one of the kids always complains and refuses to eat it. Isn't that always how it goes?! Way back when I started this blog, I wrote a post with a … [Read more...]
I find that it's a lot easier to please my kids when their snacks are just a little bit out of the ordinary. And these mini alphabet melon skewers are such a fun snack idea! You can make anything more appealing to kids if you put it on a skewer and even better if it's their name! My girls couldn't get enough of the mini letter melon pieces! We definitely lost a few letters to some taste testing, but that's no problem for me - it's all fresh fruit! I ordered these mini alphabet cookie … [Read more...]
