What can I say? Valentine’s day is fast approaching, and I caught the cupid bug! I am not the first person to make these adorable cupid’s arrow pretzel treats, but I just had to try them out for myself! If you search on Pinterest, tons of these will come up. Probably because they are such a cute and easy Valentine’s Day treat!
I picked up all of the ingredients at the bulk store so I could limit myself to about a dozen gummies. The only trouble was that at this time of year, they apparently have a lot of heart shaped gummy options and I had no idea which ones to get. So I got three different types! From left to right, I got heart sour gummies, soft cherry heart gummies, and jube jube heart gummies.
And of course, my favourite snack accompaniment, pretzels! These Cupid’s Arrows are very similar to the pretzel broomsticks I made back in October.
So, choose your heart gummies, pull out some pretzel sticks and you are ready to roll:
Cut out a small V shaped section of the heart to make the “feathered” end:
Poke the knife into the end of the “feathered” part to make a bit of a hole for the pretzel. I broke a LOT of pretzels trying to get the pretzel into the gummies. Not as easy as they make it look on Pinterest folks!
Poke the knife into the heart portion which will become the end of the arrow. You could also use a large toothpick to get the hole too.
Push a pretzel into the end of the heart to make the arrow, and then push the other end of the pretzel through the “feathered” end:
And ta-da! You have your very own Cupid’s Arrow Pretzel Treat:
I think it would be great to put a few of these in a small cellophane bag (you can find them in the candy-making section of either the bulk store or larger craft stores) and fold over the top. Then take a piece of folded card stock, write a message on it, and staple it over top of the cellophane bag. It becomes an instant, personal Valentines gift!
Now that I’m a grown up, I can’t say I enjoy that artificial cherry flavour, so at least I was able to hold back from eating all of these. I have no idea if you can get cinnamon flavoured heart gummies, but definitely keep an eye out for them. They would taste way better in my opinion!
And since I couldn’t decide which gummies looked the best, I made all three. They make a cute assortment for indecisive people like me!
Make these Cupid’s Arrow treats for a class party, give them out as Valentines, make them as a special after school treat, or give a few to your sweetheart. They take less than 5 minutes to put together and they are sure to put smiles on a few faces!

Very easy and fun treat for my colleagues . I used the end of a chopstick to make the holes which worked great as the diameter is close to the pretzel rod. Additionally, make these a day ahead and the sugared gummy will harden around the pretzel so you don’t have to worry about the parts falling off.
