Other people stress about what to wear each day. Or about picking fabric samples for curtains (well... that would actually stress me out too...). But apparently I'm the type of person who stresses about what type of candy to put into my Chex mix. I went to the bulk store and bought way too many different choices. And then I filled little bowls, sat on the floor with my group of bowls and kept refilling and rearranging them to figure out which combinations would look and taste the best together. … [Read more...]
Halloween Harvest Hash Chex Mix
This harvest hash chex mix is the PERFECT combination of sweet, salty and crunchy. I was a little nervous about the Bugles - I wasn't sure how they'd fit in with the sweetness, but they taste amazing! My 6 year old has been picking out handfuls of the Bugles saying they're the best part. She says next time I can leave out the Chex cereal. Ha! I actually think the Chex might be my favourite part though? Along with the Reese's Pieces... really, the whole combination just works really well … [Read more...]
Pretzel Ladybugs and Bumblebees
Who doesn't love ladybugs, right!? These preztel ladybugs and bumblees are adorable! And they are so easy to make! My 4 year old and 6 year old have been eating them up like crazy! Mostly my 4 year old, really. She's our little candy eater, and let's just say she has been SUPER excited that these have been sitting out in the open on the counter for a day or two, ready for her to grab one or two whenever she likes. We don't normally let the kids have access to treats all day and night, so she's … [Read more...]

Chocolate Covered Marshmallow Reindeer
You know that delicious golden brown colour on a warm, gooey marshmallow after you've roasted it over a campfire? It's pure deliciousness! Except of course, if you're anything like me, you probably lit the first two marshmallows on fire before you got that perfectly golden brown one. You know the sudden panic when you realize your marshmallow caught fire, but your stick is so long that it takes some serious effort to figure out how to get it anywhere near your mouth to blow it out? Good … [Read more...]
Decorate Easy Pumpkin Cupcakes
Do you love Halloween as much as I do? Ever since I was a kid, I've just loved all things pumpkin! Maybe it's because I was the third child and my older brother and sister grew out of carving pumpkins long before I did? I was always so excited to carve my pumpkin each year, but they were too cool for school to carve them with me. Darn older siblings! To this day, I still get excited to decorate for Halloween and to carve my pumpkins. So now I'm super excited that two of my three kids are old … [Read more...]
Mini Chocolate Donut Spiders
These mini chocolate donut spiders were so much fun, and SO EASY! They took less than 2 minutes each to make, and looked so cute when they were finished! And instead of candy eyes, you could use other round candies, like M&M's, Smarties or Skittles. There are lots of easy options! Wouldn't they be fun for a Halloween treat?! You can check out our video here: You'll … [Read more...]
Pretzel Bunnies and Ducks
I have a soft spot for chocolate covered pretzels (like my Halloween Pretzel Pumpkins, or Christmas Pretzel Trees), and these pretzel bunnies and ducks are no exception! They make such a cute Easter treat, or even just a treat to celebrate spring, now that this long, long winter is over! I'm definitely not the first person to make these - if you search Pinterest there are lots of different versions that show up. But the other ones use black candy pearls and edible decorating markers … [Read more...]
Chocolate Covered Pretzels for Valentine’s Day
These chocolate covered pretzels for Valentine's Day are a cheap and easy gift idea and are a lot more creative than giving paper valentines or a box of store bought chocolates. These are a great project to make at home with the kids and end up being a fun little edible craft. Start with a small bowl of red Merckens chocolate: Melt them in the microwave on ultra low heat (I used setting 3 out of 10) for two minutes at a time until they are completely melted. I just don't have the patience … [Read more...]

What can I say? Valentine's day is fast approaching, and I caught the cupid bug! I am not the first person to make these adorable cupid's arrow pretzel treats, but I just had to try them out for myself! If you search on Pinterest, tons of these will come up. Probably because they are such a cute and easy Valentine's Day treat! I picked up all of the ingredients at the bulk store so I could limit myself to about a dozen gummies. The only trouble was that at this time of year, they … [Read more...]
